Moroccan Startup Hooplacar Lands the First Place at Seedstars Casablanca
The startup, which connects drivers to create GPS-monitored on-vehicle advertising campaigns, will be taking off to the finals in Switzerland in 2018.
As they take the MENA region by storm with their startup competitions, from Egypt, to Lebanon, Seedstars World has just concluded their round in Morocco, awarding Hooplacar the first prize. The startup wowed the jury - composed of Nawfal Fassi-Fihri, from Endeavor Morocco; OCP's Outmane El Hassani, Orange's Gilles d’Herclonville, and Seedstars' Fredrik Andersson and Kamran Samadli - with their innovative business: connecting brands with drivers to create on-vehicle advertising campaigns, which are live monitored through GPS tracking and marketing KPIs.
The pitching competition took off last Friday at Casablanca's University of Hassan II, where nine startups presented their ideas in front of the panel; the second prize went to Manageo - an online software that facilitates the overall management of small and medium-sized businesses, while Eko-Geste Dari, the service that designs innovative and convenient solutions to better manage, collect and recycle waste, grabbed the last spot in the top three. The championing startup will be participating at the Seedstars Summit, taking place in Switzerland in April 2018, and will also get a week-long training programme with the opportunity to meet the other 80 winners, as well as investors and mentors from around the world; the prize concludes with the chance to pitch in front of an audience of 1,000 attendees for $1 million in equity investment and prizes.
As they keep on scouring the Middle East for the fiercest, most innovative startups solving regional issues, Seedstars World’s next stop is Kuwait City, on November 1st.
