UAE's Chimera Capital Closes First Venture Capital Fund at $75M

The Abu Dhabi-based firm is now in prime position to achieveing what iti calls "expanding the region’s investment universe."

Chimera Capital Ltd, an Abu Dhabi-based, Global Market-regulated fund manager that targets geographically-diversified investments, has closed its first venture capital fund at $75 million, backed by Mabadal Investment Company along with a number of regional and global limited partners.

“We are pleased to announce the close of our first VC fund and are proud to be supported by several strategic Limited Partners including leading financial institutions from around the region,” said Syed Basar Shueb, Chairman at Chimera Capital. “The Fund delivers on our mission of expanding the region’s investment universe while simultaneously enabling us to press forward with our vision of establishing Chimera Capital as a leading regional asset manager.”

The company searches for investments from a wide range of stages, from early growth to pre-IPO. Chimera Capital looks to maintain these investments for two to five years, and has already lined up a robust pipeline of opportunities including top-tier regional and global investors.
