Jusoor Has Just Launched its 4th Entrepreneurship Competition for Syrian Entrepreneurs

Jusoor, a Beirut-based NGO of Syrian expatriates supporting Syrian youth, has just launched its 4th annual Entrepreneurship Competition, open to all Syrian entrepreneurs  who want to develop their idea, acquire skills in entrepreneurship, prepare for accelerators and seed investors, and win financial prizes. 

The competition, which is open for applications until February 3rd, includes a 10-day training bootcamp that is held in Beirut, concluding with a final Demo Day and Entrepreneurship Gathering to be held at Beirut Digital District - with travel and accommodation expenses covered by Jusoor. The competition is open to projects in any field with a focus on social and economic development ideas.

The final event will take place on March 3rd, with the final three winners taking home financial prizes of $10,000 for the 1st place, $7,000 for the 2nd place and $5,000 for 3rd place.  In order for the teams to be eligible, at least one of the members must have be from Syria, and the project must be in the ‘seed’ stage, meaning that the team can demonstrate traction and prove the potential of their project. Participants should show potential growth that is measurable and scalable.

Joining forces with partners including Capital Guidance, Spark, BDD, ArabNet, WAMDA, MIT Arab Enterprise Forum, Techstars, Berytech, Techfugees, and Startup Syria, the competition particularly focuses on female-led startups, as well as young ambitious Syrians that have become recently displaced and are settling into their host countries around the world. 

Launched in 2014 to develop the skills of Syrian youth and help them realise their potential, Jusoor’s work has been recognized by global institutions and honored with the Academic Freedom Award from the Middle East Studies Association of North America and the Takreem Humanitarian and Civic Services Award. In 2014, the organisation expanded to include an Entrepreneurship Competition, which has so far supported over 65 startups and trained over 130 Syrian entrepreneurs.
