Egypt's RiseUP Summit is back with its 6th edition, themed with "Grounded Experiences," and will be held between the 7th and the 9th of December at Downtown Cairo's monumental Greek Campus. "Grounded Experiences is bringing the Summit closer to you," says RiseUp Content Curator Nada Nabil. "It's about keeping it raw, practical, relevant, glocal, and not losing sight of your ground as you shoot for the stars. It's also going get a lot more engaging. If I were you, I'd start preparing all the session questions I was too shy to ask in RiseUp 2017."

The summit is a three-day entrepreneurship event that gathers the entire local and MENA entrepreneurship ecosystem together; featuring competitions, talks, sessions, and workshops by some of the world’s leading decision makers, technology experts, innovators, business professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs.

RiseUp has been watching the ecosystem feed on a growing rhetoric that romanticises entrepreneurship and encourages aspiring innovators to aim for an immediate flourishing of their projects. Whereas, the organisers believe that powerful entrepreneurs, business professionals, creatives, and technology gurus think grounded. The theme for this edition of RiseUp Summit will be highlighting and celebrating grounded entrepreneurial experiences. This year's summit will be all about realising the local needs and gaps and developing solutions for them while utilizing the resources available and relying on support from your local ecosystem and network to develop innovations. Grounded Experiences will also highlight the reality behind entrepreneurship and the obstacles entrepreneurs face to succeed or fail.

Last year, over 5,000 individuals attended RiseUp Summit from over 40 countries. The summit featured 176 content sessions and 62 workshops provided by 256 professional speakers. 251 startups participated in the Summit as either exhibitors or at the Pitch Competition. There were over 190 investors in attendance networking with entrepreneurs. 132 media entities were covering the Summit which contributed to the 70 Million social media impressions that occurred during the event.

"I think it’s time for the MENA ecosystem to step out of the development stage and onto the international scene, especially with all the money coming in for success stories like Careem, Souq, and Vezeeta," adds Marketing and Communications Manager Sami Awa.
