The first edition of the Carerha Summit, a women’s career conference, will take place on October 15th at the GrEEK Campus in Downtown Cairo. Launched by Carerha, a platform dedicated to hiring women at flexible jobs, the summit aims to help women balance their professional and personal lives by retraining them, finding them freelancing opportunities, or showing them how to start their own business.

“We realized that there is not enough awareness on the concept of work-life balance,” Jessy Radwan, Founder of Carerha Summit, tells StartupScene. “In most companies, the last person to leave is usually seen as the best employee, promoting a 24/7 work culture. We therefore aim to raise awareness on promoting work-life balance and gender equality, particularly since women naturally have more responsibilities, especially as moms, and need more flexibility and support.”

The one-day event will feature more than 70 speakers to discuss a variety of topics, including career development, succeeding in a male-dominated industry, and how to launch a startup. Counted amongst these renowned speakers are the likes of Sara Hanna, Director of Communications Africa, Middle East and South Asia at Pepsico; Osman Badran, Branding Consultant; Laila Hassan, General Partner at Algebra Ventures; and Fatma El Shenawy, Co-Founder at Khazna.

The summit will also include 10 workshops to support women in achieving clear, distinct and actional goals in their careers.
