Orange Egypt to Build Cloud Infrastructure in Cairo’s New Capital

The agreement aims to build Egypt’s first state-of-the-arts smart city.

The Egyptian Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) signan agreement with Orange Egypt to build and operate the country’s new administrative capital's data center and cloud computing platform.

The data center is an infrastructure milestone to establish the concept of the 'smart capital' and is anticipated to be one of the key technological hubs in Egypt and the African continent. As the country’s innovative tech-leader, Orange Egypt has been awarded to build and operate the data center tailored to the latest international standardsbased on the company's international expertise in providing innovative technologies and solutions in cooperation with key international players operating in the information technology sector.

Orange Egypt will provide the main infrastructure to establish and operate the data centre, which will enable the administrative capital city to exploit smart technologies to provide various services including, but not limited to, providing Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) platforms, as well as traditional Internet, fixed phone, TV services and facility management utilities.

For his part, Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt, expressed his pleasure to cooperate with the Administrative Capital in this monumental projectas it is one of the important milestones for the modern Egyptian state.Shaker added that Orange possesses the human and financial capabilities and expertise to manage this project in a timely effective manner in compliance with the latest international standards.

Meanwhile, Abdel Latif says that the agreement comes in line with the administrative capital company's strategy to exploit all tools of modern technology to build the first smart city in Egypt, while also praising the efforts exerted by the ACUD's employees to provide a global model for a sustainable smart city that provides smart services for its residents.
