Bassita Among the Top Winners at Injaz’s Startup Egypt 2016
The clickfunding machine that is Bassita, a startup to trigger social change through partnering with corporates and NGOs, has just won INJAZ Al-Arab competition.
Bassita, the social startup making waves across the development field with their 'clickfunding' concept, has just been crowned one of the winners of Injaz’s Startup Egypt prize.
The startup, whose visionary model entails the creation of viral videos in cooperation with corporations and international organisations, provides funding for social causes based on the number of views each video gets. Having collaborated with Baraka Optics and proven the success of their formula, the company reached a milestone this year by collaborating with UNICEF in their ´Water for Life´ video, a viral sensation that achieved over a million views in two days.
Now pursuing an inventive campaign to get change perceptions about the refugee crisis, the company just received a boost at Injaz’s Startup Egypt, where they were awarded 60,000 LE in funding last Sunday. “This prize brings us one step closer to changing the world,” says the startup's co-founder Salem Massalha.
“We are going to use this funding to reinvest in our platform," he tells us. "Social media is rapidly changing; now we have the incorporation of Instagram views, for example, and this leads us to continuously enhance our technologies to keep track with these development."
The INJAZ competition, a pipeline that offers funding and guidance for entrepreneurs to translate their ideas into businesses, awarded the first prizes to tire recycler Retyres, who won 120,000 LE, and Conative Labs, a water quality monitoring and alarming system for aquaculture. Other winners included Jereed, Phone Key, Your Travel Pal, Tyro, Hommect, and iSpark.
