Ebtessama Launches Egypt's First Job-Hunting Website For Disabled People: Majidah.org
The website is named after a social worker and an advocate for disabled peoples’ rights.
In collaboration with Vodafone Egypt for Community Development, Ebtessama Foundation launched “Majidah.org,” the first online platform to assist people with disabilities to find employment in Egypt, by linking employers, companies, training centers and institutions. The platform, which is the first of its kind creates a full-fledged system for integrating people with disabilities into society by providing them with suitable job opportunities and training programmes that will enable them to acquire skills appropriate to the needs of the labour market
This project, named after Magda Sami, a social worker and an advocate for disabled peoples’ rights is an important step toward the full integration of all members of society into meaningful work. "We are constantly working to develop the community and increase the pace of progress in Egypt by empowering people with disabilities and supporting the digitization of Egypt. We are proud to participate in supporting a unique project which will have a positive impact," says Mahira Hassan, General Secretary of Vodafone Egypt Foundation.
There are approximately 15 million people with disabilities in Egypt. "Our main objective is to deliver training services and employment opportunities to as many of them as possible," says Ashraf Othman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Ebtessama Foundation. "Through Majidah.org, we can now connect with employers, people with disabilities, relevant institutions and training centres to bridge the gap in the labour market, hoping to reach the largest number of participants in different provinces.”
