Egyptian Healthtech Bypa-ss Eyes Expansion After $1 Million Investment
The startup digitising Egyptian health information exchange through its innovative HealthTag system is poised for further expansion after scoring big with local and international investors.
Egyptian healthtech startup, Bypa-ss, has announced that it has raised $1 million in pre-seed funding, as it looks to fuel expansion. With participation from the likes of Magic Fund, Acuity Ventures,Launch Africa and Plug and Play, the investment came from a selection of local and international VCs, marking an important milestone for the startup behind the innovatie HealthTag system.
Founded in 2019 by Andrew Saad, Bypa-ss has turned heads for digitising what is a fractured and inefficient healthcare information exchange by creating a single digital and physical identity - or HealthTag - for each individual, which healthcare providers can use and access for saving and exchanging information related to their condition. Using a cloud database, HealthTag stores medical records and offers users easy access, while also potentially receiving discounts of up to 70% on out-of-pocket payments.
Having started out of the Nile Delta governorate of Monofeya, Bypa-ss now serves patients across Egypt, though Saad and co. have further expansion plans on several fronts.
“With this investment coming in, we will be able to avail more features to our customers while maintaining our service level and growth momentum,” Saad, who also serves as CEO, said. “Additionally, the company intends to use the funds to fuel expansion, perfect a high-
end tech mobile app for patients to engulf and facilitate the information exchange between the stakeholders from different levels and sizes and capitalise on the company’s rapid growth.”
