Gourmet Food Startup Maison Duffour Raises $400K to Accelerate Growth
The UAE-based specialist and e-commerce platform will look to consolidate its presence in the regional gourmet food sector.
UAE-based gourmet food delivery platform Maison Duffour has raised a $400K fundraise from French and local angel investors. including Aurélien de Meaux (Cheerz founder and CEO of Electra), Frédéric Gastaldo (Photoweb founder), Timothée Désormeaux and Edouard Daou (Acquisit) and Benjamin Grolimund (Bloomberg).
Founded in 2016 by French couple Alix and Rodolphe Duffour, the startup benefits from their shared experience and backgrounds in F&B and e-commerce. They sought to fill a gap in the market between a lack of online food store options for affordable luxury items. “We started this adventure with five products and one van,” Rodolphe Duffour said. “Since COVID-19 started, the UAE is buzzing with new food projects and a new scene of entrepreneurs. These days are exciting for anyone in the food business.”
The startup plans on using the investment to drive its growth and consolidate its presence in the regional gourmet food sector through expansion of their product range on their website, which will cover a wider range of audiences seeking gourmet food in their home countries.
