Kuwaiti Edu-tech Startup CODED Secures $1.3 Million To Become Global Tech Hub

The startup is expected to continue adding more premium-quality coding bootcamps and transform the platform into a global tech hub for web-based programmers.

CODED, the Kuwait-based online coding academy has scored a Pre-Series A funding of $1.3 Million led by KISP, 500 Starups, Sijam Ventures, Abdullah al Zabin, and more. In 2017, CODED previously raised an undisclosed seed round investment which led to the development of Barmej, an online programming course provider. The platform is expected to continue adding more premium-quality coding bootcamps and transform the platform into a global tech hub for web-based programmers.

According to Hashim Behbehani, co-founder of CODED, the growing interest in programming in the Arab world has encouraged them to expand the platform to reach a wider crowd, including Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. With such renowned investors on board, CODED is on the right course to fulfill its mission to become the leading provider for Arabs to learn coding and programming. With the online platform, users can get hands-on practical experience in coding, providing a top-notch learning experience and flexible material given by industry experts. Additionally, the educational platform places its graduates in different jobs in various fields related to computer programming.

Currently, Barmej has over 200,000 users on 8 different free tracks covering different programming language. With their large selection of students, CODED has become a partner of the 1 Million Arab coders Programme, and was also chosen by the World Economic Forum as one of the top 100 startups in the Arab World.
