Egypt's AUC's Entrepreneur's Society Partners with Ariika to Launch the ES Startup Battle

Cairo's youngest entrepreneurs might just get the unique chance of partnering with one of Egypt's most brimming startups - and become the CEO of a new startup.

Staff Writer
The American University in Cairo (AUC)'s Entrepreneur's Society (ES) - a 14 year old student-led activity promoting entrepreneurship - has just joined forces with ariika, the largest Egyptian beanbag manufacturer and outdoors products producer - to introduce the very first "ES Startup Battle: ariika Edition." This competition takes on a new form, where selected participants battle it out at the American University in Cairo through a two-day ideathon. In five hours, participants are required to crack ariika’s Case Study by developing a startup idea that aims to solve one of their existing challenges.

Early on the day, Entrepreneurs' Society's academic team will introduce basic concepts - like the Business Model Canvas and pitching techniques - to the participants, in order to ease the process of developing a startup idea. "The participants then have a set period of time to work on their pitches and Business Model Canvas, where they come the next day to pitch their ideas to ariika's cofounders," says Jenny El Boushy, CEO of Entrepreneurs' Society.

More than just monetary prizes, the winner of ES' Startup Battle walks out with a job opportunity: being selected into the "ariika Champs Program." Shahir Arslan, cofounder of ariika, asserts that this program aims to hire natural-born risk-takers who want to start their own businesses, yet with minimum risk. Amongst some of the benefits of this program are: getting a salary package and 5-10 percent equity, ariika covers all initial investments, you get to work closely with ariika founders and get the support of units to accelerate growth.

This competition, happening on the 20th and 21st of October, is targeting resilient, risk taking individuals who have a passion for entrepreneurship and are quick learners. It is open to students who are graduating within the next year or have graduated in the past four years. So if you are young and vibrant go-getter who want to make a difference for themselves
and many others, this opportunity is for you.

The deadline to sign up is October 11th. If interested, check out their website for more details here.
