ConsenSys To Hold First Blockchain Developer Bootcamp In Lebanon
The 3-day blockchain development training at Beirut Digital District will be followed by a 2-day hackathon on October 17th. Applications close on September 30th.
ConsenSys will be conducting a three-day blockchain developer training on October 17th at Beirut Digital District followed by a two-day hackathon. Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners. "Blockchain for social impact" is high priority on the ConsenSys agenda. So, they're dedicating 25 percent of the spaces available - free of charge - for refugees who are already master programing.
“Lebanon has always adopted an entrepreneurial approach in dealing with challenges; and the startup ecosystem has been growing in the recent years," said Marc Ziade, Business Operations and Strategy Director at ConsenSys and Lebanon Bootcamp Lead. "There are a lot of developers and entrepreneurs looking for some expert guidance and direction.” From the workings of blockchain technology to its applications and features, participants will receive in-depth training on how to create a development environment, build decentralised applications (dApp) with Ethereum smart contracts and integrate the dApps with web applications.
The ConsenSys Blockchain Developer Bootcamp is designed to address many struggles encountered across Lebanon; such as the energy shortage and the refugee situation. "Not only will it create awareness about how to unlock the potential of a new technology like blockchain while staying away from the crypto-currency craze," adds Ziade. "But it will also harness the talent we know exists in Lebanon and equip them with the skills needed to tackle these challenges."
“Finding and honing tech talent and innovation in the Middle East is a primary objective of ConsenSys. This initiative is a testament to this," adds Asim Janjua, Director, ConsenSys MENA. ConsenSys is a venture production studio and custom software development consultancy building dApps, enterprise solutions, and developer tools for blockchain ecosystems, focused primarily on Ethereum. ConsenSys is also the Dubai Blockchain City Advisor, working with government entities to implement the Blockchain Strategy 2020.
