Egypt's NilePreneurs Launches Initiative to Help SMEs Go Digital During COVID-19 Crisis

Sponsored by the Central Bank of Egypt and several local and international institutions, the initiative aims to support the Egyptian ecosystem by providing viable tech solutions for startups.

The NilePreneurs Initiative, an Egyptian startup incubator programme funded by the Central Bank of Egypt and implemented by Nile University, has launched the ‘Be Digital’ initiative to support SMEs by providing digital and technical solutions in managing their day-to-day operations and projects amid the Coronavirus crisis.

CEO of NilePreneurs Heba Labib stated that the digital transformation of SMEs business operations is, at this point, a necessity in light of the current pandemic. She added that the initiative will provide viable digital alternatives for SME management and business operations, such as digital marketing and e-payment solutions.

NilePreneurs’ model has always sought out to band several major organisations in the pursuit of supporting Egypt’s entrepreneurs. The ‘Be Digital’ initiative continues on that path by bringing together Nile University, the CBE, the MSME Development Agency, Egypt’s Ministry of Planning, The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, CBE’s educational arm Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI) and several local and international organisations and donors.
