The UAE’s District 2020 Offers Entrepreneurs the Opportunity to Scale2Dubai
The fully connected city will use the built environment of Expo 2020 to build the world’s newest innovation ecosystem.
The UAE’s Expo 2020 - running from this October until April 2021 and already dubbed the ‘World’s Greatest Show’ - has solved a much-maligned problem of the world’s biggest conferences, and is inviting the world’s entrepreneurs into the solution.
After Expo 2020 shuts its doors in April 2021, 80% of its built environment will live on as District 2020, a fully connected, inclusive, and accessible innovation ecosystem. Through its global entrepreneurship programme, Scale2Dubai, District 2020 is offering a soft landing for entrepreneurs and businesses to set up in the ecosystem by Q4 2021, and scale their businesses to Dubai.
Eligible startups and small businesses should have a proven track record in their countries. Priority will go to applicants that align to District 2020’s key industries (including logistics and transport, travel and tourism, construction and real estate, and education) as well as key technologies (such as the internet of things, artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain).
Successful applicants will receive a two-year visa, two years of free working space, two years subsidised urban living, access to special rates for service providers, and access to capital and global networks.
