Chinese Ride Hailing App DiDi to Launch in Egypt
All captains with express registration in Alexandria with DiDi will enjoy a 0% service charge for 28 days after launch.
Global ride hailing app and smart transportation services provider, DiDi, has touched down in Egypt and opened the registration process for driving partners, or captains, in Alexandria.
DiDi is one of the world's leading mobile technology platforms, offering a wide range of application-based services across Asia Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and Russia. Its services include taxis, private car delivery, ride-sharing, buses, bikes and e-bikes, customised driving, automotive solutions, delivery, shipping and logistics and financial services.
Its launch into Alexandria aims to provide safe and comfortable trips for customers, with DiDi’s commitments centered around its captains, focusing on gaining their trust, helping them benefit from the service, and providing opportunities to increase income. However, a recent investigation by the Cyberspace Administration of China has found serious violations in how DiDi collected and used personal information. DiDi responded saying it would “strictly comply” with rectification procedures but gave no further details, releasing a statement on its social media accounts stating that customers who downloaded the app before July 4th can keep using it normally.
Commenting on the start of the company's operations Egypt, the General Manager of DiDi in Africa, Lin Ma, said "Egypt is an important and large market for DiDi, and we are very much looking forward to officially launching our services soon in Alexandria and we always emphasise that our success stems from our commitment.”
“To our partner captains and service users, and through the trust that develops with them through their daily experiences, and to provide both of them with an element of safety throughout the journey, which is why we have invested in a world-class safety system for both the captain and the passenger alike,” she added.
Celebrating the launch, all captains signing up through express registration in Alexandria will enjoy a 0% service charge for 28 days, as well as a participation bonus of 150 EGP after completing the first 10 flights.
