Deliveroo Express Mart Launched to Compete in UAE’s Q-Commerce Market

Deliveroo’s Express Mart will give UAE customers the ability to order everyday groceries such as milk, eggs, and bread right through its app.

In a pandemic-riddled world, delivery apps have become our best friends. Deliveroo UAE knows that all too well and has subsequently thrown into the q-commerce (quick commerce) grocery market. Last week, the company announced the launch of Deliveroo Express Mart, partnering

with the likes of 7Eleven, Marks & Spencer, Shop Kitopi, Circle K, IKEA Swedish Food Market, Quality Food and 800Pharmacy. Orders are processed completely in-app, assigned to a Deliveroo rider and delivered within 20 minutes.

The launch puts it in competition with the likes of InstaShop and El Grocer, both of which have been dabbling in this field in UAE since. Instashop was acquired by Delivery Hero earlier this year for $360 million after it tripled its GMV year on year by the end of Q2 2020.

“The global pandemic has accelerated the importance of delivery, and the need for at-home delivery services beyond takeaway food,” Anis Harb, General Manager at Deliveroo UAE, said on the launch. “We want to help Dubai residents receive a variety of essential goods right to their doors and accommodate the shift in consumers’ needs.”
