Spotify Launches Its Newest Version, Spotify Lite, In The MENA Region

Free and data-friendly.

For the sake of our phone’s storage, Spotify just introduced a solution: a trimmed-down version, Spotify Lite. The music-streaming app launched the 10MB version for Android devices, in 36 markets, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar.

After eight months of launching in the MENA region, Spotify Lite will be free and data-friendly, which means that you can control how much the app consumes your internet data.

“Lite is a small, fast, and simplified version of our unparalleled music experience that works much like the main Spotify app. You’ll still be able to search and play your favorite songs and artists, save them, share with others, discover new music, and enjoy playlists made just for you, but with a few extra features making it ideal for older devices and operating systems,” Spotify said in a statement.

The Swedish app is not the first to introduce a lighter-storage version, as Uber, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger launched lite versions before.
