The Ministry Of Environment Teams Up With Dawar, A Waste Management App

Dear citizens of Egypt, wait for cleaner streets in the near future!

Egypt’s Ministry of Environment has signed a protocol with the Egyptian leading waste management and resource recovery company, Environ Adapt, the latter announced in a statement, days ago. The two parties teamed up to make Environ Adapt’s app, Dawar, the official waste management and monitoring platform for seven governorates, including Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Assiut, Kafr El-Sheikh, Qena, and Gharbia.

"The company also received an honorary award in the World Environment Day from H.E. Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, for being one of the leading players in the environmental field,’ says Environ Adapt in a statement.

Dawar works as a street waste-reporting app; users simply upload pictures of waste in the streets, and then the app track the place by GPS and send the picture to the corresponding authorized collection company to remove it.

Founded by Mostafa Khairat in 2015, Environ Adapt is an Egyptian company that offers performance-rating services, and industry capacity development, in addition to waste collection and waste management services. Dawar was created in October 2018, in a beta version to be tested in Maadi and Tora district.

This is not the first decision that the Ministry of Environment makes in the framework of fighting pollution and waste, as the first two air pollutant monitoring stations were established last month.
