Regional startups have raised $170 million as of March 2021, displaying a 6% rise every month across 43 deals. In total, the amount raised during the first quarter of 2021 adds up to $396 million across 125 deals.
Countries leading the startup industry during this first quarter are the UAE, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. The UAE raised $256 million across 38 deals, Egypt brought in $22 million across 34 deals, and Saudi Arabia acquired $76 million across 28 deals. UAE-based agritech company Pure Harvest is the highest earner with $50 million.
