Non-Banking Finance For MSMEs Hit LE 83.319 Billion in February 2025
Non-banking finance for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises grew, and consumer finance and leasing sectors also saw increases.

The volume of non-banking finance extended to medium, small, and micro enterprises (MSMEs) in Egypt reached LE 83.319 billion in February 2025, according to the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA). This reflects a notable increase from LE 61.141 billion in February 2024.
Approximately 3.727 million clients benefited from this financing in February 2025, a slight decline from 3.813 million in the same month the previous year. Micro-enterprise funding alone stood at LE 65.429 billion, while funding for small and medium-sized businesses rose sharply to LE 17.889 billion from LE 7.558 billion in February 2024.
The FRA also reported that consumer finance companies provided LE 11.946 billion in financing during January and February 2025, up from LE 8.715 billion during the same period in 2024. Client numbers saw a 188.4% increase year-on-year, reaching 1.515 million. Leading sectors for consumer finance included automotive at 21.72%, electrical appliances and electronics at 17.11%, and household appliances at 15.88%.
Leasing activity rose during the first two months of 2025, with the value of contracts reaching LE 21.409 billion compared to LE 14.430 billion in 2024. The real estate and land sector continued to dominate leasing finance, accounting for 68.05% of the total, followed by transport vehicles and machinery.
The FRA regulates Egypt’s non-banking financial sector, which has grown steadily in recent years as businesses look for alternatives to traditional bank loans.
