Ericsson Launches Gulf Sustainability Hackathon for Young Innovators
The challenge is open to startups, students and innovators across the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain.
Ericsson and the Hack for Earth Foundation have launched the Ericsson Sustainability Challenge for startups, university students and young innovators across the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain.
The hackathon will focus on digital solutions for sustainability, with teams encouraged to work with technologies including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and next-generation connectivity.
Built around Hack for Earth’s Dream–Hack–Build methodology, the programme will take participants from identifying sustainability challenges through solution development and, for selected teams, towards real-world implementation.
Registration is open to participants aged 18 and above through the Hack for Earth platform.
Winning teams will join the six-month Build for Earth accelerator, where they will work with mentors, industry experts and Ericsson’s wider ecosystem to develop and scale their ideas. They will also have the opportunity to showcase their projects at Ericsson’s booth during GITEX GLOBAL.
The organisers said the programme is intended to support regional sustainability ambitions by helping promising ideas move beyond the hackathon stage and towards practical deployment.
