Robusta Launches WildCard Hackathon for COVID-19 Solutions
Finalist teams can receive funding and support for their ideas.
Robusta, one of Egypt’s leading tech agencies, is launching a three-day hackathon from the 27th to the 29th of March. The ‘WildCard’ Hackathon will source actionable responses to COVID-19 from across the the region, in collaboration with a slew of national and regional organisations, including Wuzzuf, Ahl Masr Foundation, several Egyptian ministries, Falak Startups, Flat6Labs, and Injaz.
The hackathon will focus on three main streams: finding solutions to the current crisis through innovative healthcare support; life and business continuity, including how to remain productive, maintain income and sustain operations; and community wellbeing.
“We understand the panic: numbers are growing, people are concerned,” says Hussein Mohieldin, CEO of Robusta, on why the hackathon is stressing the wellbeing aspect. “People are staying indoors, they’re not connected as much, and they’re concerned for loved ones at risk of infection.”
“We want to maintain a positive mindset,” he continues. “The problem is out there, we want to encourage the community to remain engaged on the solutions instead.”
Finalists will be connected with organisations, with the possibility of granting funding, consultation, and support for their solutions.
Teams of 2 to 5 participants can still apply here. And if you’d like to be a judge or subject matter expert, you can apply here.
