Singularity University's Global Impact Challenge Is Coming To Egypt

Deadline: June 21

Staff Writer

NASA-affiliated Singularity University (SingularityU) is coming to Egypt to begin its Cairo Chapter; inviting Middle Eastern entrepreneurs above 21 to apply and attend the MENA Global Impact Challenge (GIC) Bootcamp in El-Gouna, Red Sea, for a chance to secure a full scholarship to attend SU’s Global Startup Programme (GSP).

The bootcamp is happening between July 19 and 26 and those interested need to apply before June 21, 11:59 PM.

There are more than 192 GIC done worldwide, and this GIC is the first in the MENA region managed by SingularityU Cairo Chapter.

“Issues like disaster resilience, water supply, educational gaps, high unemployment rates, governance, health, energy, agriculture and transport are all just some of the main problems that affect and slow down the development in Egypt and the MENA region,” SingularityU’s Ambassador in Egypt and former GSP graduate Haider Ghaleb tells Startup Scene.

“We’re now having better awareness of AI, robotics and some of the exponential technologies that will help in these issues, innovators and entrepreneurs are in need to have a community or a platform to accelerate and activate these ideas in a much more professional matter and to have hands on these technologies.”

The bootcamp will equip the finalists with the latest knowledge within exponential technologies, and prepare them for the final pitch event where they will pitch in front of a panel of judges from Singularity University (SU). The finalists will work hand-in-hand with mentors from SU, former GSP participants, and other subject experts.

The GSP is a programme that costs $60,000 given at Santa Clara’s SingularityU and has been helping future-focused entrepreneurs transform radical ideas into tangible impact on a global scale since its foundation in 2008. GSP is a structured, immersive program offering startup-focused educational resources and world-class mentorship from SU’s faculty, staff, and industry experts—in a safe, nurturing environment. The program aims to scale startups into global businesses.
