Dubai-Based 'Connected Commerce' Pioneer Zbooni to Launch in Egypt
A trailblazer in connected commerce, the startup has its crosshairs firmly set on one of the region's most attractive markets.
Harnessing the power of social media, the advent of a flexible and cCommerce (connected commerce) sector enables businesses to convert customer interactions seamlessly into transactions via messaging apps. MENA’s leading cCommerce platform, Zbooni, is pioneering the transition into this new era of online business. The Arab world’s third largest economy, Egypt, holds huge untapped potential and Zbooni is capitalising on this, officially launching its services in the North African country. Egypt is home to an estimated 3.5 million SMEs, all who stand to benefit greatly from Zbooni’s digital commerce tools given that the country has more than 50 million active social media users.
Zbooni’s entrance into Egypt will provide businesses with the necessary tools to capture orders, accept payments and increase their sales. Although traditional eCommerce rules supreme in terms of investor interest, cCommerce is more lucrative with the average cart 2.7 times bigger than traditional eCommerce and conversion rates are 20 times higher which could be attributed to simplified purchasing and seamless mobile-first transactions. Zbooni also leverages the power of emerging technologies such as advanced machine learning and AI tools to protect merchants and customers, ensure dynamic KYC ('know your customer'), AML (anti-money laundering), and fraud prevention via World-Check.
"We're excited to launch in Egypt and pioneer cCommerce with inspiring Egyptian entrepreneurs and businesses,” Ashraf Atia, co-founder and COO of Zbooni, said. “ As an Egyptian-American who has lived and worked across the region, it's humbling to be able to bring new tech solutions to my home country. With the help of our key partner JumiaPay and National Bank of Egypt, we expect to support thousands of Egyptian businesses to sell more with Zbooni in 2022."
Since its founding in 2016, Zbooni has scaled aggressively, opening regional offices in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. It has onboarded more than 6000 businesses across the MENA region and nets sales of more than $5 million per month. In September 2021, Zbooni secured a $9.5 million Series A that propelled it to enter new markets, hire more talent and diversify its product offering.
