Jordan's Jobs App Kader Converts 5,000 Users Into Volunteers to Offer Home and Delivery Services
The initiative is meant to help elderly people and those in need to order their groceries and any other essentials with ease.
Jordanian recruitment app Kader has mobilised 5,000+ volunteers across the country to provide day-to-day services for senior citizens and those in need. From house maintenance, grocery shopping, pharmaceuticals deliveries or errand work, the initiative – titled #3al_Mashi – is meant to aid those who are unable to fulfil any tasks and alleviate some burdens during the pandemic.
The startup has streamlined the recruitment process in sectors such as retail, hospitality and restaurants. And while these industries have taken a hit across the globe, Kader has since used the platform to make a call for volunteers to lend their support in the current crisis, and aid those within walking distance from their neighbourhoods between the hours of 10 AM and 6 PM.
Like several countries in the region and worldwide, Jordan imposed a nationwide curfew that started as an indefinite round-the-clock curfew that caused civil unrest, and was later eased so that people may go to supermarkets, bakeries and pharmacies.
