Abu Dhabi’s state financier Mubadala - a prolific investor with an increasingly-diverse portfolio of businesses across a range of rapidly-expanding sectors - has invested a mammoth $497 million in IVC Evidensia, Europe’s leading veterinary care provider.

Originally IVC, the company was acquired by EQT Private Equity in December 2016 and merged with Swedish veterinary group Evidensia the following May. The UK-based veterinary provider boasts an expansive network of hospitals, clinics, and health centers spanning 12 countries across Europe.

At the core of Mubalada’s investing efforts is the development of Abu Dhabi and many of the global communities in which it invests. The IVC Evidensia investment comes as part of the financier’s contribution to addressing some of society’s greatest collective challenges such as renewable energy, healthcare, sustainable production, education, and infrastructure.

In a statement, Mubadala’s Executive Director Justin Sabet-Peyman stated that the investment is in line with their commitment to directing funds to consumer businesses that stand ahead of the curve in resilient and growing sectors. “We are excited to be partnering with EQT, Silver Lake, Nestlé and IVC’s world-class management team to help drive the company’s continued leadership and innovation in pet care,” he said.

Mubadala is the second largest sovereign investor in the UAE after the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), managing an astronomical $243 billion portfolio of investments. The value of its investments currently stands at $28.3 billion. The company works to accelerate the diversification of Abu Dhabi’s economy through its strategic investments and partnerships across an array of sectors and geographies.

Mubadala’s investment decisions and asset management processes are informed by an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework. Its commitment to being a socially responsible investor is aligned with the UAE’s broader vision as a forward-looking and conscientious nation dedicated to a sustainable future.
