Health 2.0 Egypt Kicks Off Their First Event In Alexandria On November 30th
Individuals can get early bird tickets until November 15th for EGP 150 while startups can apply to showcase their products before November 20th.
San-Francisco's healthcare tech organisation, Health 2.0, is now launching a new chapter in Alexandria in a salon event on November 30th. The event will bring together experts, investors, and buyers to discuss different technological solutions to improve Egyptians' access to healthcare. Products from the best five startups will also be showcased.
“Through this event, we hope to identify more healthcare innovators and establish connections between innovators and buyers of innovation such as hospitals insurance companies and investors. We expect about 60 invitees to attend,” Health 2.0 Egypt's Founder Omar Shaker tells Startup Scene.
Earlier this year, Health 2.0 Cairo organised Cairo’s first-ever healthtack where over 100 participants came together to attend panel discussions, presentations, brand new technology showcases and a 3-day intensive hackathon for EGP 40,000 cash prizes. Soon after that, Health 2.0 Cairo network decided to expand to Alexandria and rebrand the online assets into Health 2.0 Egypt instead.
Supported by Health 2.0 Egypt’s team, the on-ground team in Alexandria has been creating their own community there. “We have identified Alexandria’s startups in our previous events and we are excited to get to know the local innovators more and how we can support them,” Shaker added.
Health 2.0's salon events create a platform that allows for keynotes and panel discussions in order to have the innovators announce their solutions, healthcare investors discuss the gaps in the industry and technology geeks learn about the latest technology solutions.
Technology can aim to improve access to healthcare through different ways including making locations that provide healthcare services more accessible, making the waiting time for the patients less, or making the quality and consistency of care through trusted doctors better. Another way is financing entry into the healthcare system through insurance coverage or cost reduction
Health 2.0’s new chapter comes at a time when attention and effort are being directed towards improving Egypt's healthcare system with the World Bank recently launching a $530 million project that aims to improve public healthcare through expanding Egypt's family planning services, scaling up Hepatitis C program and supporting its new health insurance system.
With the growing need for better healthcare services and the increasing efforts to fill in the gap in the industry, new cutting-edge technologies are being created to meet this demand through different initiatives and movements such as Health 2.0.
