Eventtus Secures Investment to Develop Dedicated Virtual Events Platform
Eventtus plans to have the platform be market-ready within the week to come, and hope that it’ll stir a shift in the future of events planning.
Across the board, the COVID-19 outbreak has caused a ripple effect of event postponements and cancellations. From entrepreneurial summits and conferences, to art festivals and concerts, every event worldwide was pushed to a later date in 2020 or, for the annually recurring events, completely cancelled their 2020 edition.
The phenomenon initiated the dialogue of how the events industry can adapt to such crises - not just in regards to this current pandemic, but the question of how can there be a migration to virtual events that doesn’t only thrive when we’re all quarantined? Regional event-tech company, Eventtus, has just announced they’ve secured an investment from regional venture capital funds such as Hala Ventures, Algebra Ventures and DAAL VC, to develop a fully functional virtual events platform to launch in the coming weeks.
While there’s been several international and regional events planned in the past few weeks on Zoom or Facebook, the tools available live-streaming and video chatrooms, Eventtus, however, intends to develop a more holistic, 360 degree platform that reimagines the events experience.
“What Eventtus has built over the last few years provides a solid foundation that will allow them to reinvent conferences and exhibitions,” said General Partner at Algebra Ventures, Ziad Mokhtar, in a statement. “The team’s track record of creating innovative experiences makes us confident they can succeed in that,”
The platform will serve as an entirely new and innovative service for event planners and organisers to consider a shift in the future of events. “The team and I are currently working on something that’s completely different from what’s being featured in the market nowadays,” said CEO & Co-founder of Eventtus, Mai Medhat. “We have taken it upon ourselves to adapt and react to the current situation so that we could continue empowering event planners and everyone who loves events as much as we do.”
