Two Egyptian fearless FinTech startups, PayMob and Insanayah, were selected by Dell for Entrepreneurs’ “Sudo” initiative to take off to Viva Technology, the biggest tech conference in Paris, and one of the largest and loudest in Europe.

The initiative, which was kicked off by Egypt’s Center of Excellence, provides startups with mentorship and training to help them grow from stealth to scale, while also opening up opportunities to grow and expand their business. For the programme’s first edition, Egyptian-led startup PayMob - a FinTech startup digitising cash transactions - and Insaneyah - an innovative social startup striving to digitise the non-profit sector - made their way to Viva Technology on a mission to network, shine and expand.

The conference, running its second edition this year, brought together a whopping 68,000 attendees and 6,000 startups from different backgrounds with one objective: to promote innovation and foster transformation, enabling both individuals and organisations from around the world to meet and unleash their creative power.

“It was so exciting and energetic to witness such big mass of startups, diverse in culture, different in sectors, all devoting their efforts to accomplish what they believe in. From our business perspective, it was beneficial due to the leads we have unlocked there,” said Mostafa Menessy, Co-Founder & CTO of Paymob.

The startup, which had previously been selected as one of Startup Scene’s 25 under 25 entrepreneurs, is one of A15’s portfolio companies, and has been recently making waves with the launch of their new product, Accept Payments.

“We got the chance to connect with more than 49 European tech start-ups through Viva Tech, which gave us a global overview of the latest technologies.” Says Mohamed Sharaf el Din, founder of Insaneyah. The social startup, owned by its bigger umbrella Nas Hope (L.L.C), is a social media platform that digitally connects volunteers with NGOs and opportunities and was, earlier this year, accelerated by the AUC’s V-Labs FinTech programme.

“Joining this year’s conference has helped unlock many opportunities for both enrolled start-ups and engaged them with proven leaders to come up with business solutions that will help them scale, grow, and change tomorrow’s business and society,” Ahmed Osama, Innovation Program Manager at Dell EMC, said.

“It is crucial that big corporations provide scalability, mentorship, resources and technology to help start-ups follow in their footsteps and become the next big technology powerhouses,” he added. “We believe that programs and initiatives as such are essential to generate breakthrough innovations in the society.”
