Gemini Enterprises Africa, an Orascom Group-owned investment company dedicated to the promotion and incubation of young entrepreneurs and their innovations, has launched the ‘Gemini Uplift Initiative’ to support founders through the coronavirus crisis.

The initiative will be focused on the legion of challenges presented to founders in the MEA and Mediterranean region, specifically regarding on-ground operations and to adapt to a more sustainable process. The initiative will launch online throughout and after Ramadan in partnership with 45+ local, regional and international experts and figures in the ecosystem. This roster includes Orascom Investment, World Food Programme, MINT by EGbank, Alex Angels, Egypt Ventures, RiseUp, American University in Cairo (AUC), Seedstars, Injaz Egypt and Flat6Labs among many other institutions and platforms.

Naguib Sawiris, Executive Chairman of Orascom Investment Holding commented on the initiative’s launch stating: “We believe in the importance of our responsibility to act now. Together with our partners, we are sure that we can uplift our entrepreneurs and startups to stand strong and sustain their businesses during these hard times. We will not let the Coronavirus beat us.”

Throughout the initiative’s run, it will be focused on three tracks: Money, Matchmaking and Mentorship. Each track will be aimed at guiding entrepreneurs in their respective industry, accessing a vast network of experts and one-on-one mentorship in a variety of fields such as media, HR and legal council

“This initiative emerged from our belief in the significance of our role to bolster the entrepreneurial ecosystem,” says Adly Thoma, Executive Chairman & CEO at Gemini Enterprises Africa. “Our aim is to lead the startups towards operational continuity and economic sustainability during these hard times. My gratitude and sincere thanks to all the partners that generously offer their utmost contribution.”

Startups and SMEs in the region can apply now through Gemini’s website for each track.
