9 Egyptian Startups Attend London Tech Week With UK Embassy's Start Egypt

As part of the British Embassy's Start Egypt programme, nine Egyptian Flat6Labs startups, involved in health, finance, engineering, and service sectors, flew to the British capital to attend London Tech Week from June 11^th to 17^th.

"While a team of Egyptian players represent Egypt at the World Cup, another team of nine startups visited London to win some new investments," says British Ambassador to Egypt John Casson. "It’s great to welcome them to London, the leading tech hub in Europe, so that they can showcase these ideas in a global market. "

One of the participating startups is Chefaa, an on-demand application to scan and deliver prescriptions to patients, locate the nearest pharmacy, and order from pharmacies online. Another startup is Weelo, a platform that connects users to their nearest supermarkets to facilitate grocery shopping. They work with supermarkets across the Egyptian capital, such as Oscar, to provide e-commerce platforms to digitise their sales and maximise their business. Mosawer dot net, a platform that connects freelance professional photographers with agencies, companies, and clients across the Middle East and North Africa; prompting payment delivery to both sides. Also, 7aweshly, a mobile application that has partnered with the Central Bank of Egypt, aiming at helping people getting committed to save from their recurring income. Argineering, Recommendator, Coterique, Elkrem, and Pushbots. 

Launched in November 2017, Start Egypt programme aims to inspire and support thousands of Egyptian entrepreneurs through a number of entrepreneurial development opportunities, awareness activities and a unique incubation programme. London Tech Week is the largest free celebration of technology in Europe, bringing together 55,000 tech professionals, from early-stage startups to some of the biggest names in tech, such as Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia.
