NBE & MSMEDA Partner to Expand Financing Infrastructure for SMEs
The new protocol aims to widen SME and entrepreneurship support across all governorates in Egypt.
The National Bank of Egypt has signed a cooperation protocol with the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) to expand financing and support for small and medium enterprises across Egypt. The agreement aims to improve access to finance while strengthening both financial and non-financial support services for entrepreneurs and business owners across all governorates.
According to Mohamed El-Etreby, Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank of Egypt, the partnership builds on the bank’s role in supporting the national economy, with SMEs identified as a key driver of sustainable development and employment.
The collaboration is designed to create a more integrated ecosystem by combining the bank’s financial capabilities with MSMEDA’s development and technical services, supporting business growth and increasing the sector’s contribution to GDP.
Bassel Rahmy, Chief Executive Officer of MSMEDA, said the partnership will expand both financial and advisory services, improve access to funding, and support participation in exhibitions and economic events to help businesses scale locally and internationally.
The agreement also includes plans to support initiatives such as export promotion, franchising, women’s economic empowerment and value chain development in sectors including food production and handicrafts.
Officials added that the partnership may extend to joint promotional campaigns and the installation of bank ATMs at selected MSMEDA branches to improve access to services for clients.
